What is a funeral celebrant?

A funeral celebrant is a trained and certified professional who conducts funeral ceremonies, and memorial services that reflects the life and values of the deceased. The service will not be overly religious but may include hymns and prayers at the family’s request.

Celebrants work closely with the bereaved family to gather information about the person's life, and achievements. The celebrant then crafts a service that includes personal anecdotes, readings, music, and other elements that celebrate the individual's life.

A funeral celebrant also offers support to the grieving family and friends.
